We transcribe the audio of the episode itself, rather than lifting the automatic captions off YouTube. Those drop words and punctuation in ways that make a transcript tiring to read and unreliable to search — what lands on your page is the clean version.

Nothing breaks — which is exactly why it's easy to put off. Your older episodes stay findable the way they are now: through YouTube's own search, on a page you don't own and can't change. The words you actually said are indexed as the automatic captions heard them, which is your names and technical terms guessed at. So when someone searches for the exact thing you explained two years ago, what decides whether they find it is a transcript nobody checked, on somebody else's page.

Cancel any time from your account settings — no contract, no call to make. Paid access runs to the end of the period you've already paid for. After that the account goes read-only: you stop adding new episodes, but nothing is deleted and your pages stay online.

No — there's no cookie, and nothing we keep can follow a visitor from one day to the next. We count page views, jumps to a transcript timestamp and searches, and those counts are just numbers per day — they carry nothing about who did what. The one place we touch anything personal is telling how many different people showed up on a given day: for a page view or a transcript timestamp jump we briefly turn the visitor's IP address and browser into a one-way scrambled code, mixed with a value that changes every day, and then let the IP address and browser go. Two visits by the same person on the same day land on the same code, which is how we count people rather than clicks — but the daily value changes at midnight, so tomorrow the same person is a different code and we hold nothing that connects the two. Only that code is kept, and it's deleted within 3 days too. Searches never get a code of their own — we do read the IP address and browser for a moment, to hold the rate limit and to tell a bot from a person, and then let them go; nothing about the searcher is kept. Delete your account and all of it goes with it.
